Topcon places £145,000 order with Hansa Business Solutions Hansa Financials will be implemented on an IBM iSeries Server across six offices for 'true' integration at low cost of ownership
Topcon (Great Britain) Ltd, a subsidiary of an international manufacturer and distributor of optical equipment, has placed a £145,000 order with UK software vendor Hansa Business Solutions. Topcon has chosen Hansa Financials - a suite of fully integrated accounting, CRM and business management software applications - licensed for 60-users and running on an IBM iSeries Server.
Hansa Financials will be implemented at Topcon's Head Office in Newbury over a wide area network. This will enable the company's regional offices in the UK and Ireland to gain high-speed local access to the new software, providing the organisation with a centralised business management system, which will be used by over 100 Topcon employees.
Hansa Financials replaces a Pegasus product, which was running using Citrix networking. Hansa Financials was chosen ahead of competing products from Microsoft Great Plains, Exchequer, Chorus and Lotus Notes.
Malcolm Cowling, Head of Finance at Topcon (Great Britain) Ltd, comments, "A lot of companies are claiming to offer truly integrated business systems, but of all the products we looked at Hansa Financials was the only application immediately available that could deliver the level of integration we were looking for within a single underlying database and application language. Combined with its low cost of ownership, this provides Hansa Financials with a clear advantage over its competitors."
He continues, "The broad functionality of Hansa means that our UK and Ireland offices will now have very reliable, accurate real-time information relating to CRM, job costing, financials and logistics. Hansa Financials will now underpin all of our business operations and it will deliver clear efficiency savings and a fast return on investment."
Hansa's flexibility and ease of use means that production of month end accounts will be much simpler, whilst credit control, sales analysis and order tracking will be greatly improved. Topcon staff from different departments or branches of the organisation will have very fast access to relevant information.
Topcon is looking to leverage Hansa's remote access capabilities by providing its sales force with the ability to log on to the system remotely in order to access information from a customer's account prior to a site visit. Sales staff will also be able to submit quotations and sales invoices to the system from remote locations, which will help to streamline administration processes and improve the efficiency of the business.
Topcon (Great Britain) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary within the Topcon Corporation group based in Japan. The group manufactures and distributes optical and electronic instruments for Medical, Ophthalmic, Surveying, GPS, Laser and Machine Control applications.
As there were so few financial solutions available on the Mac platform, we did consider installing PC systems to make our selection process easier, though such a change posed huge cost implications. However, Hansa presented us with the only viable alternative that complied with our preference to continue operating on a Mac network, at an extremely competitive price.
